Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cheesecake layer)
- Fresh strawberries, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
- Combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk until well combined.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool.
- Beat the cream cheese in a bowl until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix.
- Whip the heavy cream and vanilla in another bowl until soft peaks form, then fold into the cream cheese mixture.
- Assemble the cake by placing one layer of chocolate cake on a serving plate, spreading a cheesecake layer on top, then adding another chocolate cake layer, repeating, and finishing with the last layer of cake.
- Decorate the top with fresh strawberries. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
For added flavor, consider drizzling chocolate syrup on top. Ensure cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps.
