- 1 package puff pastry sheets (2 sheets)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional: extra powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface.
- Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Place the cream cheese mixture in the center of the pastry, leaving space on the sides.
- Cut slits on the sides of the pastry for braiding.
- Fold the strips of pastry over the filling, alternating sides to create a braid.
- Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden color.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to enjoy warm.
