Japanese chicken yakitori skewers with tender chicken thighs and a sweet-savory tare sauce.
Ingredients

1 pound chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces
8 to 10 bamboo skewers
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup mirin
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon sake
Green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Soak bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Simmer soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sake for about 5 minutes to make tare sauce.
- Thread chicken pieces onto skewers.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- Grill skewers 3 to 4 minutes per side.
- Baste with tare sauce as they cook.
- Garnish with green onions and serve.
