Description

A classic Italian lasagna filled with rich meat sauce, layers of cheese, and a hint of herbs.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
  3. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  4. Add marinara sauce to the meat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Mix ricotta, egg, basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  6. Layer noodles, meat sauce, and cheese mixture in a baking dish, repeating layers.
  7. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake covered with foil for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes.
  9. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat sauce.
