Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (or pork/turkey)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup white rice (or small pasta/barley)
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • 4 cups beef broth (or chicken broth)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 12 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground meat in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook until it begins to soften.
  4. Mix in the rice, crushed tomatoes, and broth, then bring to a boil.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and sugar.
  6. Simmer for 30 minutes, adjusting seasoning to taste.
  7. Finish by adding lemon juice or vinegar before serving.

Notes
