- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough.
- Top with mozzarella slices and fresh basil leaves.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone in the oven. Feel free to add additional toppings of your choice.
