4 ripe bananas
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 package vanilla wafers
Optional: whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Whisk sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium saucepan.
- Gradually whisk in whole milk.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbling.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Cool the pudding slightly.
- Layer pudding, sliced bananas, and vanilla wafers in a serving dish.
- Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
- Top with whipped cream and extra banana slices if desired.
Notes
Let the pudding thicken fully on the stove so the dessert sets cleanly after chilling.
