First of all, I pull out everything. I dig through all the sections from outerwear to activewear and make a quick edit. If I haven’t touched it since last year, don’t like the way it feels on my body these days, or just know I won’t need it in the future, I say goodbye.
Just the simple process of editing my closet like this instantly makes me feel better. But once I get the saved pieces in their proper place, I can do a mini-inventory. That’s what I’m asking.
- What is missing from my wardrobe? Yes, basics and staples or more color? etc.
- Which favorite items need to be replaced after daily wear and tear?
- What do I feel amazing in and is it a different color?
- What do I achieve the most?
- What colors do I want to wear more this coming season?
What we put on our bodies affects us more than we realize. When we feel good, together and confident, our days are different. We have more energy. More fun. And the opportunity to create the way we want to FEEL in our day.
Try it yourself. Play a little. Have fun.
When the seasons change, it’s a natural time to reset (and you can totally do it in your pantry or garage or office, too). Take stock of what you have, what you love, and what you no longer need. Then you can stock your spaces with purchases that are meaningful and enjoyable to you. In my life I have found this to be a better way to shop.
You all know I’m not a big shopper, but looking through my own closet I realized I needed to update or replace a few items in my wardrobe this month. I did a lot of digging to find some new favorites, so of course I want to share them with you.
