UK universities have flouted the country’s new immigration rules for foreign students shortly after the government announced new measures to ease the flow of immigrants.
But in a statement on Tuesday, UK International (UUK) – the body for universities across the UK – said the move was a threat to the country’s global success as a major destination for international talent and should be looked at very carefully.
In particular, the universities body said the development would worsen their financial pressures in the UK.
According to Jamie Arrowsmith, director of UUK, foreign students have contributed greatly to the economy. Arrowsmith stated that UK nationals have a wide acceptance of international students.
