Traffic data and metrics come from eBay

eBay is actively working to provide sellers with traffic data and metrics, it was revealed at an online Seller Registration event on Wednesday. Jeremy Chiang, eBay’s senior product manager for Stores, said sellers should keep an eye on new features for store subscribers.

The answer came from questions from vendors, one who asked for metrics so they could run A/B testing, and another from a vendor who wanted traffic data to measure conversion rates.

“We build these kinds of tools for you guys. I don’t have a hard release date at this point, but keep an eye out for it in the coming months.” It’s a question they get a lot from sellers, he said, so sellers can see how their stores are performing.

During another Seller Sign-Up session on Seller Initiated Offers on Wednesday, Parin Jogani, eBay’s lead product manager, said eBay is starting to ramp up automation a bit more.

The presentation slide explained that the seller’s “offers to buyers” feature means that sellers can send offers to buyers who have viewed: abandoned cart; or browsed the material 3 or more times per week.

Jogani said some sellers are starting to see automation options when sending bulk offers. “You can now see an option where you can enable automation. So if a new buyer comes in and shows interest, eBay will send them the same offer, and we do that once every day.”

And, he said, the big “coming soon” announcement is that sellers will soon be able to send bulk offers on the eBay mobile app. Currently, sellers can only bid on one product when using the app, unlike on the desktop. For example, a seller with 50 products will be able to send a 10% off offer to buyers who have shown interest in them when the feature is added to the app.

Jogani said he couldn’t give an exact timeline, but “very soon.” The app also comes with counter offers and coupon features.

There was much more on the agenda for the eBay Seller Check-in, with a focus on how to improve summer sales, and some sessions will be available on YouTube.

At the checkout event, eBay also announced the dates for its eBay Open seller conference, which will be held September 26-28, and the “virtual studio” events will be held on September 25.
