On one A Twitter exchange between two usersthey decided that clearing their browser cache seemed to fix the problem.
People have also discussed the issue in some threads on the eBay discussion boards, including one titled “Search Bar Issue”. One of the users explained:
“Starting today (5/18/23), when eBay first loads, one can hover over the search bar and click anywhere, the cursor will follow; can fill the search element and so on. While eBay searches and updates (animated icon) are still mouseable. over the search bar and click. After the page loads, hovering over the search bar (just above the page) and clicking does nothing. Again, the symptom just started…
“All Listings, Accepting Offers, etc. are fine below. you can click on the buttons. Right from the top (eBay, shopping by category, search bar, etc) enabled, the mouse won’t work. Using the latest version of Chrome. Btw, Edge seems to work fine.
“Any ideas?” Any changes to the eBay pages in the last day? Tx.”
Down Detector showed problems with its graph, as well as one comment from a user who wrote: “My mouse won’t engage the search bar today. I also sent an invoice to the buyer but ebay still shows that I need to send an invoice. Guess their site is having connectivity issues.” The eBay System Status dashboard was all green by mid-afternoon, indicating no technical issues.
It’s not clear how many people may be affected or why.
