MIAMI, May 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Today the FSA celebrated the Ascension Kenneth A. Jessell Office of the President during an induction ceremony on campus.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni, community leaders and university presidents were among the hundreds who gathered at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center west of FIU. Miami-Dade camp for the ceremony. Florida Lieutenant Governor and FIU alumna Jeanette M. Nunes made a keynote speech.
“Ken is humble. He has the utmost integrity and intelligence. He’s home grown, home grown and hometown,” Nunez said. “He will also fight for FIU in the halls Tallahassee and the future of FIU in the halls of DC is indeed bright, and part of that is a great tribute to Dr. Kenneth Jessel“.
The FIU Board of Trustees appointed Jessel as FIU’s sixth president October 17, 2022. Prior to that, Jessel served as interim president for 10 months and as senior vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer for 13 years. Additionally, he is a professor of finance in the College of Business.
During President Jessel’s tenure, FIU has continued to rise in overall rankings, including the recently published US News and World Report Alumni and Law School Rankings, which ranked international business at No. 2 and FIU law at No. 60.
