Temple University has parted ways with head men’s basketball coach Aaron McKee after four seasons, announcing that he will “move into a new role as special advisor to the athletics department.”
McKee finished with a 52-56 record in four seasons at Temple, including a 16-16 record in 2022-23. The Owls finished fifth in the American Athletic Conference at 10-8 this season and were the only team to beat No. 1 Houston in the regular season with a 56-55 win on Jan. 22. One coach targeted to replace McKie is Colgate coach Matt Langel, a Moorestown, NJ native who has led the Raiders to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Langel is a well-respected coach who has also been linked to Notre Dame following the retirement of former coach Mike Brey.
Penn State coach Micah Shrewsberry has also been linked to the Notre Dame and Georgetown jobs.
