Shahzaib’s century gives Pakistan U19 ODI series win Sports Craze

Shahzaib Khan’s unbeaten century led Pakistan U19 to an eight-wicket victory over Bangladesh U19, the fourth in one-dayers, at the Shahid Kamruzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Saturday. The win gives Pakistan U19s an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

Chasing 200 runs to win, the opening pair of Shahzaib and Azan Awais gave a good start to the 152-run innings. Left-handed Azan, who scored 105 in the second one-dayer, was the first to return to the hut with a 91-ball 52 that included seven boundaries.

Shamil Hussain (7, 12b, 1×4) joined Azan next as Pakistan U19 were 167 for two in 32.4 overs. At that point, captain Saad Baig partnered with Shahzaib for the third wicket of 35 runs to help the side reach the target in the 37th over. During the partnership, Shahzaib brought up his century and bounced back from an unbeaten 105 off 105 deliveries, smashing 14 fours and a six.

Bangladesh Under-19s were bowled out for 199 in 46.4 overs after being put into bat. Ariful Islam top scored for his team with a 95-ball 50 which included four fours and one six.

For Pakistan U19, right-arm fast bowler Eimal Khan and left-arm spinner Ali Asfand took 3 wickets each.

The two sides will now take part in the fifth match of the series at the same stadium on Monday, May 15. Pakistan U19s, who had earlier won the four-dayer by 10 wickets at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, will aim to complete the 50-over series 4-1.
