  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the frosting:
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F and grease an 8×8 baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, combine milk, butter, and sugar until simmering. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk together flour, pumpkin spice, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Whisk eggs and vanilla into the chocolate mixture. Gradually fold in dry ingredients until glossy.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
  6. In a stand mixer, beat softened butter and pumpkin puree until smooth.
  7. Add pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, and salt. Gradually add powdered sugar until fluffy.
  8. Spread frosting over cooled brownies, cut into squares, and serve.
