Our Air Pan Salmon recipe calls for about 1.5 lbs. salmon You can buy them pre-sliced (like we do) or you can buy large fillets from your grocery store and cut them up yourself.
We find that when cooking portions of salmon, it cooks more quickly and evenly than cooking whole salmon fillets.
Try the Surrender Salmon.
Our all-time favorite salmon is Surrender Salmon. They catch wild Alaskan salmon out of Bristol Bay, Alaska. The salmon is bright orange, so flaky and delicious, and really the best.

Overcook. whatever you do, don’t overcook your salmon. Cook the salmon in the air fryer for 7-8 minutes or until the flesh is pale pink on the inside.
Can you use frozen salmon in the air fryer?
Just like our air fryer chicken wings tutorial, you can make salmon in the air fryer while it’s frozen. Basically how it works is that you first thaw the salmon in the air fryer and then cook it according to the instructions.
- So before we start our recipe, place the frozen salmon pieces skin side down on the air basket.
- Bake at 400ºF for 7-9 minutes or until melted.
- Then follow our recipe as indicated.
