The NRL’s integrity unit will investigate a vile social media attack on Raiders star Jack Wighton after he called out a troll on his Instagram page.
The NRL’s integrity unit is set to investigate a vile social media attack on Canberra Raiders superstar Jack Wighton.
NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo has vowed to follow up with a troll who targeted Wighton after reports he would join South Sydney next season.
“It’s absolutely disgusting that we have people talking to anyone like that, whether they’re footballers or members of the public,” Abdo said.
“The integrity unit will now carry out an investigation to try to find the person and take appropriate action.”
Wighton, who will join the Rabbitohs on a four-year deal from 2024, followed the lead of future team-mate Latrell Mitchell by calling out his forward on his own social media account.
“Bow down here. For what reason little coward,” Wighton wrote in response to the attack.
Wheaton also posted an image of the comments calling her a “weak-gut dog” and “f. king dog c. t”.
The comments also included racial slurs.
