My Weight Loss Strategy for 2023: Prime Potential

Yes, I’m breaking down my personal weight loss strategy for the new year. As many of you know, 2022 brought us identical twin girls. That means I was pregnant and had babies in 2020, 2021 and 2022. No wonder I don’t feel as amazing about my body as I want to be.

Before I go much further in this post, head over to the Primal Potential podcast because in episode 1051 I share all the details on how I set goals, how I track my progress, and (most importantly) how I keep my goals in mind : as I go through my busy days. That information is extremely relevant and important, but since it’s on the podcast, we’re not going to cover it here.

My time is seriously short with 3 kids under 2, multiple businesses, and a non-profit, which means the only approach that will work for me is the simple approach. Here it is!

My personal weight loss strategy

Nutrition is paramount when it comes to fat loss, but I don’t follow time-consuming strategies like counting macros, calories, carbs, or anything else. Instead, I follow very simple golden rules for carb and fat loss. Basically, I save my carbs for post-workout or my evening meal and I watch the quantity, quality and combination of carbohydrates.

Here are a few episodes where I share a lot of information about what that means:

Episode 195 – The Golden Rules of Carb and Fat Loss

Episode 007 – Carbs and Fat Loss – Timing is of the essence

I do strength training 4 times a week, 25-30 minutes per session. I do it at home with dumbbells and kettlebells. there is no time to go to the gym in this season of life. Being strong is key to long-term fat loss. If you don’t know where to start, hire a coach. Even if you work with him for a few months, you will understand the basics and can continue learning on your own.

I get 10,000 steps a day. Seriously, sitting is the new smoking. It is one of the deadliest behaviors we can teach. Get up and move. You don’t need to run or jog, just walk at a leisurely pace. Often I have one of my twins strapped into a carrier while I walk on the treadmill after Roma naps, but I do it no matter what.

I drink 1 gallon of water today. To be honest, I usually drink more (because I’m breastfeeding two kids), but the minimum is 1 gallon. Hydration affects everything from metabolism to energy to immunity and more. Have a drink

I take 3 specific supplements to support my fat loss goals.

The first is called GBXFit and is the first of its kind. It is quadrabiotic (prebiotic, probiotic, postbiotic and phytobiotic) with strains proven to support optimal body composition.

I also take Relief+, an all-natural anti-inflammatory, because many of us have systemic inflammation, and inflammation inhibits fat loss.

Finally (along the fat loss lines) I take Mood+, an all natural adaptogen blend. It helps my body adapt to physical and emotional stress because stress inhibits fat loss.

If you want to follow my journey, I share the most within the Primal Potential FB group. It’s free to join and an amazingly supportive and informative community.
