Microsoft is redoubling its efforts to woo the gaming community with a new feature called Edge for Gamers, which promises to enhance the user experience inside and outside of games.
In the preliminary descriptions provided by Microsoft, the Edge for Gamers mode will enable a number of improvements. It is said to feature a gaming-focused homepage and add new sidebar apps that specifically cater to the needs of gamers.
One of the most important features is an efficiency mode tailored for PC gaming, which is supposedly designed to minimize browser resource usage to maximize in-game performance.
A dark mode and game-specific themes are also on the list, offering customization options that are in line with the aesthetics of popular games.
Edge for Gamers mode is currently in early development.
Currently, enabling the mode does not significantly change the browser experience. However, once enabled, users are automatically redirected to the themes section of the Edge add-on store, and apps from popular gaming platforms Discord and Twitch are added to the sidebar.
While it’s still early days for the Edge for Gamers mode, Microsoft’s move signals a growing interest in customizing products and features for the gaming community.
