The lone juror in Lori Vallo’s murder trial has revealed why she changed her mind to convict her mother last week.
Saul Hernandez sat down with Good Morning America on Tuesday, four days after Vallow pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, conspiracy and grand larceny of his daughter Tylee Ryan, 16, and seven-year-old son Joshua “JJ” Vallow. and for the death of 7-year-olds. Conspiracy to kill Tammy Deibel, 49, the first wife of her new husband, Chad Deibel, in Ada County Court in Boise, Idaho.
Mr. Hernandez said that when the jury began deliberating, he was the only one who was not convinced that the prosecution had proven its case.
But in just seven hours of deliberation, Mr. Hernandez said it became clear to him that Valo was guilty.
During the trial, he said he found Wallow “hard to look at” as more and more damning evidence emerged.
“Growing up, we’re taught good and bad, God and evil, and I think that’s the first time in my life I’ve faced evil,” he said.
Mr Hernandez said he was “disgusted” by pictures of Vallo and Mr Deibel smiling at their beach wedding just weeks after the children were killed.

Lori Valo faces up to life in prison at her sentencing.
The 49-year-old was facing the death penalty before the judge’s last-minute decision weeks before the trial.
Judge Stephen Boyce said Friday that sentencing would take place within the next 90 days.
