Richard Belzer’s death was announced by his longtime friend, Bill Sheft. According to him, the 78-year-old actor passed away with his family at his home in Beaulieu-sur-Mer in the south of France.
Another person who has given a somewhat concrete reason for Richard’s death is Sheft. He is a writer who is working on a documentary about the life of Richard Belzer.
According to Scheft, while there is no cause of death for the stand-up comedian, Richard was suffering from circulatory and respiratory problems due to his age.
The first to announce his death on social media was comedian Laraine Newman on Twitter. Worked alongside comedian Richard Belzer on SNL for a total of 5 years (1975-1980).
Laren paid tribute to her colleague by writing the following words: “I am so saddened to hear of Richard Belzer’s passing. I loved this boy very much.”
Laraine also wrote the following: “He was one of my first friends when I got to New York to do ‘SNL.’ We went to Sheepshead Bay for lobster every week for dinner. One of the funniest people ever. Master of crowd work. RIP dearest.”
