Lahore (Special Correspondent) Lahore Qalandars are crowned champions for the second time in a row in a thriller of HBL PSL8, defeating Multan Sultans by 1 run.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) Cup 8 final battle was played between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Defending champions Lahore Kalandars captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and opted to bat first and batting first, Lahore scored 200 runs in the allotted overs and Multan chased down a target of 201 runs.
Abdullah Shafiq 65, Fakhar Zaman 39 and Shaheen Afridi scored 44 runs off 15 balls. Shaheen Afridi also hit 5 sixes and 2 fours. On From Multan, Usama Mir dismissed three players.
In reply, Multan Sultans put up a tough fight but managed to score 199 runs in the allotted overs and lost by one run.
Riley Rossouw scored 52 runs, Rizwan scored 34 runs and Khushdil Shah scored 25 runs. Captain Shaheen Afridi was versatile for Lahore, he scored 44 runs in the first innings and then guided 4 players to the pavilion in defense of the target.
Rashid Khan took two wickets and David Visa took one wicket.
It should be noted that Lahore Kalandars became the second team to win the title of PSL champion for the second time. Earlier, Islamabad United also became champions of PSL twice. Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi have won the event once each.
Shahin Shah Afridi was adjudged the man of the match for his all-rounder and Mohammed Rizwan won the best batsman and best wicket keeper awards. Imad Wasem was adjudged the best in all phases and Abbas Afridi declared the best bowler of HBL PSL 8.
