Venkatesh Prasad has expressed displeasure with the way the star batsman has dipped in Test cricket. Prasad criticized Rahul and even suggested “favouritism” in the Indian team, adding that Rahul does not deserve a place in the Indian Test team. In a series of tweets, Prasad even said that Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan have not been given long ropes like Rahul despite performing well in India’s opener in the past.
I have no agenda against any player, maybe there are others who do. Difference of opinion is fine but calling opposing views as apna personal agenda and Twitter par mat laayein is ridiculous @cricketaakash: given that he has made a great career out of presenting his views.

However, Chopra doesn’t seem to share Prasad’s same sentiments and has even called out Prasad for sharing flawed statistics to suit his “agenda”. In a video titled ‘How bad is KL Rahul’s Test form?’, Chopra broke down the numbers that Prasad shared on Twitter and argued against them and supported Rahul.
Reacting to the same, Prasad took to Twitter and ripped Chopra. The Karnataka fast bowler even took a screenshot of one of Chopra’s “sarcastic” tweets about Rohit Sharma in 2012 to criticize the former opener.
So my friend Aakash Chopra, after making a vile YouTube video this morning in which he calls me an agenda peddler, conveniently and cleverly misquotes, dismisses Mayank’s average of 70 at home, wants to throttle views that don’t match his beliefs but wanted Rohit out pic.twitter.com/2HwFLMgvmd

The former pacer clarified that he has no personal agenda against Rahul but is against the unfair selection policy, highlighting how players like Sarfaraz Khan and Kuldeep Yadav were not given enough opportunities even after performing well consistently.
I have nothing against KL or any other player, my vote was against unfair selection and different standards of performers. Whether it’s Sarfaraz or Kuldeep, they have spoken out on merit. But it was disappointing to see Aakash call it a personal agenda.

Prasad also said that he does not believe that a player cannot be criticized during a game. He said. “And the argument that we shouldn’t criticize a player during a match doesn’t make sense to me. It does not affect players’ gameplay. Most of the players don’t read the views even after the match and no player can read between the matches as the phones are kept,” he added.

“I admire Aakash for the hard work he puts into his YouTube channel, but calling a different point of view an agenda because it doesn’t fit his narrative is bad. There is no bitterness between us, and since his video was in the public domain, I wanted to post my review here,” he added.
