Two months ago, the Minnesota Vikings trailed the Indianapolis Colts by 33 points through two quarters at home in what appeared to be a complete disaster.
Then, after halftime, the Vikings offense sparked another lackluster drive, all but ending fans’ hopes for a comeback or a respectable second half. The game was over and the Vikings had laid an egg for the dreaded Colts.
KJ Osborne sheds more light on the greatest comeback in NFL history
Well, that turned out to be false. Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, Dalvin Cook, TJ Hockenson and the Minnesota defense rallied to later defeat the Colts 39-36 in overtime to mark the greatest comeback in NFL history.
Another key performer was KJ Osborn, the team’s WR3, who shredded the Colts defense for 157 yards with 10 catches and a touchdown. And he recently shed more light on the comeback with the season firmly behind him.
“Justin Jefferson and I were talking before we got into the locker room, and a year ago we were up against the Steelers and they came back and we had to beat them on the last play of the game.” Osborne said Stacking the box podcast right before Super Bowl LVII.
Osborne added: “So when we walked into the locker room, me and J.J. we have seen it done against us and we can do the same thing“.
The game Osborne mentioned happened late in the 2021 season Thursday night football. The Vikings attacked the Pittsburgh Steelers, taking a 29-0 lead midway through the 3rd quarter before, you guessed it, Pittsburgh ran back in a way that resembled the Vikings vs. Colts a year later. In the end, Minnesota beat Mike Tomlin’s team 36-28, but it wasn’t without panic from the 68,000 Vikings in attendance at US Bank Stadium.
In sending last year’s Steelers reference, Osborne basically told Jefferson, If they almost did it to us, we can do it to them.
And that’s what the Vikings did behind 417 passing yards and 4 TDs from quarterback Kirk Cousins in the second half against Indianapolis.

Osborne, 25, could work at WR2 this offseason if the franchise moves on from teammate Adam Thielen. The game of his life in the greatest comeback in NFL history certainly didn’t hurt his cause.
