A few weeks after releasing iOS 16.5 beta 2 to all users, the company is seeding beta 3 to registered developers. After the exciting release of iOS 16.4 late last month, Apple seems to be preparing a soft update ahead of the announcement of iOS 17 in June.
Along with this beta 3, the company is seeding third beta versions of watchOS 9.5, macOS 13.4, iPadOS 16.5, and tvOS 16.5. With the first beta version, Apple added several features for iOS 16.5 tests, such as:
My sports tab: iOS 16.5 brings the much-requested My Sports tab to Apple News. There you can follow your favorite sports, teams, leagues and athletes. It’s also possible to access scores, schedules and rankings from top professional and college leagues.
Siri improvements. While users can ask Siri for quite some time to take a screenshot of the iPhone screen, iOS 16.5 enables the assistant to start recording the screen for the first time. Users need to say, “Hey Siri, start screen recording,” and the screen recording will begin.
Apart from these two features, Apple is also working on bringing square box Picture-in-Picture Apple TV to allow users to have up to four sports streams at once. At the moment there are only code referenceswhich means this may not launch during the iOS 16.5 cycle.
For macOS 13.4 beta testers, Apple is changing how developers can download the latest beta. As the company did with iOS 16.4, macOS users will need to provide a registered developer account to download new betas with the new iOS 17/macOS 14 cycle starting in June.
On the other hand, with iOS 16.4, Apple has added 20+ new emojis, web push notifications, 5G Standalone support, changes to Apple Music and Apple Podcasts, battery drain reset, and noise isolation for mobile calls.
