This incredible Pierogi Casserole with Kielbasa is a comforting 7-layer dish. It combines the heartiness of pierogi with the smoky flavor of kielbasa for a satisfying meal.

- 1 package (12 oz) frozen pierogi (potato and cheese or your choice)
- 1 lb kielbasa, sliced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.
- Grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray or butter.
- Spread half of the frozen pierogi evenly across the bottom of the casserole dish.
- Layer half of the cooked kielbasa on top of the pierogi.
- In a bowl, combine the sour cream, chicken broth, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Pour half of the sour cream mixture over the first layer in the casserole dish.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the sour cream mixture.
- Repeat steps 5 to 9 with the remaining pierogi, kielbasa, sour cream mixture, and cheese.
- Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the casserole cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- This recipe can be made ahead of time. Assemble the casserole, cover, and refrigerate overnight. Add a few extra minutes to the baking time.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pierogi and ensure all other ingredients are gluten-free.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
