I like to approach the design of our home and our outdoor spaces with several intentions. minimal feel (so it soothes my eyes) yet cozy and comfortable feeling. Oh, and super functional too because, hello to this stage of life with two little ones running around.
My goal is always to create a space that feels calm and grounded, almost spa-like in some ways, and also one that we can share with the people we love (for BBQs, dinners, dates, girls’ nights out, etc.). High-quality yet functional pieces for REAL life (especially with the sticky hands and bouncy feet that come with baby life).
So when we recently redid our backyard last year, I wanted to bring the same approach inside our home, outside.
We spend as many hours a day outside as possible during the hot, dry months. Literally anything we can do outside, we do (play, eat, relax, host, and as of this week, bathe the kids outside in an old drink bucket (lol, see below). So I knew I was doing it. I just want a yard that *looks* nice, but a yard where we can live, play, eat, cook, garden, and make memories together. A yard where we can fully live.
And one of the most common DMs I get when I share a photo of our backyard (or house in general) is something like… “Where did you get those chairs?” “Can you share what carpet that is?” “What brand is that umbrella?” “What plants are these?” So hopefully this post will be a collection of all those things.
When I’m looking for pieces and elements to add to our spaces, I always look for the best quality I can find, but never the highest prices. It takes some hunting and searching, but I love it. So I’m always more than happy to share my favorite finds. So here are some outdoor (and indoor favorites) recently.
Because sharing is caring, IMO. And friends don’t keep the things they love 🙂
So here it is… a roundup of my favorite summer home and backyard design finds to help you create a space that brings you peace, ease, and joy, too.

(Our new vegetable garden planters that my husband made for Mother’s Day are the best gift ever. If you’re looking for something similar, I’d also consider these or these.)
