The new Varro range consists of three different series that include seven new models;

BASH boostersBASH amplifiers are powerful and efficient and allow for maximum voltage swing, providing all the necessary power and additional dynamic power throughout the woofers operating range.
MDF cabinets with internal fasteningTo reduce cabinet flex and reduce cabinet resonances, all Varro subwoofers include MDF cabinets, ranging from 30 mm (1-3/16 in.) in the Premium Series to 36 mm (1-7/16 in.) in the Dual Reference Series. to whom Additional internal cross bracing is included, designed to further reduce resonances that can adversely affect tonal balance.
Custom designed drivers/large diameter voice coilsCustom woofer drivers have been designed for each Varro Series subwoofer to match the output of its paired amplifier. To aid in this task, the drivers feature larger diameter voice coils (2 inches on Premium models and 2.5 inches on Reference and Dual Reference Series models) to accommodate the increased power and heat generated by the motor structure.
DSP (Digital Signal Processing)Varro subwoofers include dual 28-bit DSPs with a base clock frequency of 147 MHz. This supports audio signal processing with high precision and minimal latency.
Advanced APP controlDoing away with traditional analog controls, our new Premium Series subwoofers incorporate an advanced digital control system. It ELAC Sub Control 3.0 application (iOS, Android) can provide full control of one or more compatible subwoofers when needed.
Auto Room EQBetter help finding the best place to place a subwoofer in a room isn’t always easy. Using the Elac Sub Control 3.0 app and a smartphone microphone, users can automatically optimize room EQ, allowing greater flexibility in placement without sacrificing performance.

Reference/Dual Reference Series Additional features
Aluminum sandwich wooferThe Varro Reference and Dual Reference subwoofers use high-excursion woofers that include a rigid and lightweight aluminum cone covered with a treated paper cone through a special bonding process. According to Elac, this construction maintains the transient capabilities of cellulose cones with the stiffness of aluminum. The drivers are also designed to provide an extra long cone throw that can more easily handle both high signal levels and low bass.
HEX aroundElac claims its HEX surround geometry allows for a very linear relationship between applied force and resulting displacement in both directions. This ensures faithful reproduction of the recorded signal with low distortion even at high playback volumes.
Wireless connectionBoth the Reference and Dual Reference Series subwoofers have a built-in Elac AirX2 wireless receiver. To use the wireless connection, connect the optional AirX2 Wireless transmitter to the AV receiver and transmit information wirelessly to the subwoofer.
HintListeners can use up to 3 Reference or Dual Reference subwoofers simultaneously using the AirX2 wireless system.
Advanced connectionThe Reference Series adds speaker level inputs for use with receivers and integrated amplifiers without a dedicated subwoofer output. The Dual Reference Series adds balanced XLR inputs for compatibility with premium high-end audiophile and professional audio equipment.
Custom installation is readyBoth the Reference and Dual Reference Series subwoofers feature an Ethernet port for connecting to third-party control systems such as Control4, Savant, Crestron and RTI.
