Description
A warm, cheesy casserole that combines all your favorite sushi flavors, perfect for gatherings and easy to prepare.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups sushi rice (400 g)
- 2 1/2 cups water (600 ml)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (120 g)
- 1/4 cup sriracha sauce (60 ml)
- 1 lb imitation crab meat (450 g)
- 4 green onions, chopped
- 1 sheet of nori, cut into strips
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (120 g)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce to low heat. Cook for 18–20 minutes until the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise and sriracha. Stir until blended. Add the chopped imitation crab meat and green onions. Mix gently until combined.
- In a baking dish, spread the cooked sushi rice evenly across the bottom. Press it down gently with a spatula. Next, pour the crab mixture over the rice, spreading it out to cover evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the crab layer, then add the strips of nori on top. Make sure to distribute them evenly for the best flavor in each bite.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional green onions if desired.
Notes
Make in advance and pop it in the oven when guests arrive. Ensure not to overcook the rice to avoid dryness.
