Description

A delicious and easy make-ahead breakfast combining oats, apples, and cinnamon, perfect for busy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup milk of your choice (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 crisp apple, chopped (like Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 12 tbsp maple syrup or honey (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a mason jar or lidded container, combine the oats, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, sweetener, chia seeds, salt, and most of the chopped apple (reserve some for topping).
  2. Stir to mix well, ensuring the cinnamon and chia seeds are evenly distributed.
  3. Cover and refrigerate overnight, or at least for 6 hours. In the morning, top with reserved apple pieces and enjoy cold or warmed in the microwave.

Notes

Overnight oats can be stored in the fridge for up to four days. For extra crunch, add nuts or flax before eating. You can also leave the apples out until just before eating to keep them crisp.
