Students at a school in China are reportedly working under the supervision of an artificial intelligence camera that measures their concentration.
Shocking footage is claimed to show the pupils’ every move being closely monitored by high-tech surveillance systems.

Spy cameras are allegedly installed in classrooms to keep an eye on schoolchildren and monitor their movements.
A strange clip showed how the system displays data about each person and categorizes them into groups with colored banners.
Each color is supposed to represent a different movement, while the flashing numbers above the students’ heads keep changing to indicate the degree of movement.
The cameras are supposed to keep an ever-evolving log of the child’s behavior in hopes of nipping distractions in the bud.

But it has also raised concerns about China’s Big Brother-like state of surveillance, which now appears to be scaring children into conformity in the classroom.
Journalist Jennifer Zeng, who has been sharing uncensored first-hand footage from inside China, described the footage as “appalling”.
He shared the video on Twitter in an attempt to break down the complex components of the AI cameras, which reportedly scare students.
A former government researcher turned whistleblower wrote: “This is how Chinese students are monitored in their classroom. Every slight movement is detected by the surveillance camera.
“On their heads is written: ‘Head up, 0.89’, ‘Head down: 0.88’, ‘Stand up of a different kind: 0.90’, ‘Hand on desk’, ‘Head down and hold on desk’: 0.71.” etc.
“The numbers are constantly changing to show the extent of the movements.
“It seems to me that different colors are also for different movements. Green is for “a different kind of stand up”. It looks like that person is the teacher.
“Red color to ‘raise your head’, pink color for “head down”, yellow for “head lying on the desk”, orange for “turning the head”, blue for “head down and holding the desk”, etc.
But others said the data is just boring analytics collected on online platforms people use every day, like Zoom and Moodle.
A Chinese high school has revealed that it has equipped several classrooms with artificial intelligence cameras to track student attendance and attendance in 2018.
Hangzhou No. 11 High School said the resulting data then divided students into six behavior categories related to their learning.
Deputy director Zhang Guanchao explained. “We have a minimum score.
“If a student’s class score is below that, it means that this student is not able to concentrate in class.”
The system then notifies the teacher, a threat of punishment that prompts students to “voluntarily change their behavior and classroom habits,” Guanchao claims.
The system also tracked students’ emotions and expressions, presumably to ensure their well-being.
A similar concept, hoping to instill obedience in schoolchildren, took off in 2019, with elementary school children wearing brainwave-detecting hats.
A head-mounted device made by BrainCo. monitored attention and shared data with teachers as well as parents.
But after videos of the gadget went viral, concerns about privacy issues surfaced and they were quickly scrapped.
Nevertheless, the teachers claimed that they helped with “real-time feedback on student engagement” as well as improved focus in the classroom.
One teacher claimed their students were answering questions “louder than usual” and said the hat “successfully improved performance during class”.
Students were less impressed, with some saying they “felt like they were in control” when wearing the strange device.
AI technology is expected to be at the forefront of classrooms and education in the future.
