These Christmas Ornament Cupcakes are moist, chocolatey delights decorated to resemble festive holiday ornaments.

- 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/4 cup Truvia® Sweet Complete™ All-Purpose Sweetener
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cups Truvia® Confectioners sweetener
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Food coloring (assorted colors for decorating)
Instructions
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Beat 1/2 cup room temperature unsalted butter with 1 1/4 cup Truvia® Sweet Complete™ All-Purpose Sweetener until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
- Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk into the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix in sour cream until smooth.
- Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners and fill each about two-thirds full with batter.
- Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Beat 1 cup of room temperature unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add 2 cups Truvia® Confectioners sweetener, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Mix frosting with food coloring to create various colors.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes to resemble Christmas ornaments using the colored buttercream.
