- 1/2 cup shortening (regular or butter flavor)
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together shortening, peanut butter, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in milk, vanilla extract, and egg until well combined.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are set and centers are still soft.
- Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
