Description
This delightful stir-fry dish combines the crispness of Chinese cabbage with hearty beef and vibrant vegetables, all tossed in a savory sauce. It’s a quick and satisfying meal that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- Chinese Cabbage (Chinakohl)
- Beef (thinly sliced, flank steak or sirloin recommended)
- Bell peppers
- Carrots
- Scallions
- Garlic (minced)
- Ginger (grated)
- Soy Sauce
- Non-Alcoholic Stir-Fry Sauce (vegetable broth, vinegar, and sugar mix)
- Oil (sesame oil or vegetable oil)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Start by slicing the beef thinly against the grain. Chop the Chinese cabbage into bite-sized pieces, and slice your bell peppers, carrots, and scallions.
- Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with a tablespoon of soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Let it marinate for about 15-20 minutes to enhance the flavor.
- Heat the Pan: In a large frying pan or wok, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. I recommend using sesame oil for a nutty flavor, but vegetable oil works too.
- Stir-Fry the Beef: Once the oil is hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Let it sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, then flip and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- Add Vegetables: In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed, and toss in the carrots and bell peppers. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
- Add the Cabbage: Next, add the chopped Chinese cabbage and cook for another 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently until the cabbage wilts down.
- Combine Everything: Return the cooked beef to the pan, and pour in the remaining soy sauce and a splash of non-alcoholic stir-fry sauce. Stir everything together and cook for an additional minute to combine the flavors.
- Finish with Scallions: Finally, stir in the sliced scallions, and remove from heat. The residual heat will soften them just perfectly.
- Serve: Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles, and enjoy your amazing Kostliches Chinakohl Pfannengericht!
