Description

Create magical Cauldron Cookies, the cutest Halloween treats for kids. These spooky cookies feature a chocolate cookie base, a cauldron-shaped chocolate bottom, and bubbling green potion icing, all decorated with fun Halloween sprinkles and candy. They are perfect for baking with children, Halloween parties, or as festive goodie bag treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
  • 1 jar mini peanut butter cups or chocolate truffles (for cauldron base)
  • 1 cup black candy melts or chocolate chips
  • 1 tube green icing or frosting (for bubbling potion effect)
  • Assorted Halloween sprinkles (bones, eyes, stars, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup mini M&Ms, Nerds, or small candy balls (to resemble magical ingredients)
  • Optional: gummy worms, edible glitter, black licorice laces

Instructions

  1. Prep your workspace by lining a tray with parchment paper and setting out all your toppings in bowls.
  2. Melt the black candy melts or chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  3. Dip the bottom of a mini peanut butter cup into the melted chocolate and place it in the center of a chocolate sandwich cookie to create the cauldron base.
  4. Using a spoon or piping bag, add a swirl of green icing on top of the peanut butter cup to mimic a bubbling potion.
  5. Decorate the potion with Halloween sprinkles, candy eyes, bones, stars, and other chosen candies to create a unique magical brew.
  6. Let the Cauldron Cookies sit at room temperature or chill them for 10 minutes to allow the chocolate and icing to set.
  7. Serve the finished Cauldron Cookies on a platter or package them individually in treat bags.

Notes

  • For school-safe treats, ensure all ingredients, especially the chocolate bases and candies, are nut-free.
  • Consider adding cauldron handles using pre-cut black licorice or pretzels dipped in black candy coating.
  • Allow children to decorate freely; each cookie will be unique and magical.
  • These Cauldron Cookies can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days; they are not freezer-friendly as decorations may melt or change texture upon thawing.
