Description

Best Brown Butter Cookies That Melt in Your Mouth

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Unsalted European Style Brown Butter (Browned until golden.)
  • 1 cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 large Egg (Room temperature.)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 4 ounces Chopped Dark Chocolate Bar (Your favorite chocolate.)
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt Flakes (For sprinkling on top.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Ensure your egg is at room temperature for better mixing. Cut the butter into cubes to help it melt evenly.
  2. Brown the Butter: In a heavy saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat. Stir constantly until it turns golden brown and foamy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and cool in a heat-safe bowl.
  3. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s hot enough for baking.
  4. Mix Sugars and Butter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled brown butter with packed brown sugar and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  5. Add Egg and Vanilla: Crack in the large egg and add vanilla extract. Whisk until fully incorporated into the mixture.
  6. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold these dry ingredients into the wet mixture gently until just combined.
  7. Add Chocolates: Carefully fold in the milk chocolate chips and chopped dark chocolate until evenly distributed.
  8. Scoop the Dough: Using a 1/4 cup measure or ice cream scoop, drop the dough onto a large cookie sheet, leaving space between each ball.
  9. Garnish with Chocolate: Press more chocolate chunks onto the tops of the cookie dough balls for an extra treat.
  10. Bake: Place the cookie sheet in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown.
  11. Shape Cookies: If necessary, use a large round cookie cutter to adjust the shape of the cookies right after taking them out.
  12. Add Final Touches: While still warm, sprinkle a few more chocolate chunks on top of each cookie.
  13. Cool and Garnish: Allow the cookies to cool slightly before adding a sprinkle of sea salt flakes.
