Best Brown Butter Cookies That Melt in Your Mouth
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Unsalted European Style Brown Butter (Browned until golden.)
- 1 cup Packed Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 large Egg (Room temperature.)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
- 4 ounces Chopped Dark Chocolate Bar (Your favorite chocolate.)
- 1 teaspoon Sea Salt Flakes (For sprinkling on top.)
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Ensure your egg is at room temperature for better mixing. Cut the butter into cubes to help it melt evenly.
- Brown the Butter: In a heavy saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat. Stir constantly until it turns golden brown and foamy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and cool in a heat-safe bowl.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s hot enough for baking.
- Mix Sugars and Butter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled brown butter with packed brown sugar and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
- Add Egg and Vanilla: Crack in the large egg and add vanilla extract. Whisk until fully incorporated into the mixture.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold these dry ingredients into the wet mixture gently until just combined.
- Add Chocolates: Carefully fold in the milk chocolate chips and chopped dark chocolate until evenly distributed.
- Scoop the Dough: Using a 1/4 cup measure or ice cream scoop, drop the dough onto a large cookie sheet, leaving space between each ball.
- Garnish with Chocolate: Press more chocolate chunks onto the tops of the cookie dough balls for an extra treat.
- Bake: Place the cookie sheet in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Shape Cookies: If necessary, use a large round cookie cutter to adjust the shape of the cookies right after taking them out.
- Add Final Touches: While still warm, sprinkle a few more chocolate chunks on top of each cookie.
- Cool and Garnish: Allow the cookies to cool slightly before adding a sprinkle of sea salt flakes.
