Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso and NFF technical director Austin Eguavoen have expressed confidence that the team can get a positive result against Italy on Wednesday.
Nigeria and Italy will meet in the second match of Group D at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, with the Europeans heavily tipped as favorites to win.
Both teams secured opening day wins over the Dominican Republic and Brazil respectively and will look to complete their knockout stage qualification with a win.
“We stayed back after the Dominican Republic game to watch Italy play Brazil and took a lot of notes from there,” Bosso said.
“The Italians have the midfield technique to overcome any team that is shaken by their pace and organisation, but we will know how to deal with that.
“We’ve got guys who can neutralize their lethal arsenal and get our own shots. Wednesday’s meeting will be interesting. We will respect them, but we are not afraid of any team in this league.” he announced.
Also, Nigeria Football Federation Technical Director Austin Eguawon has backed the coaching staff led by Ladan Bosso to come up with a winning plan to secure victory against Gil Azzurrini.
“The Italians are a good side, but nothing is given in football until the game is played and finished. It’s about formation, the structure of your team and how well you know what you notice about the other team,” Eguavoen said in an interview with NFF.com.
“I’m happy that our coaches saw how the Italians played against the Brazilians, and now we all have to put our heads together and come up with a winning plan.”
