Barcodes on Amazon. The Nitty-Gritty of GTIN

It’s been a while since we last talked about Amazon barcodes. But if you’re new to selling on Amazon, you’ll quickly notice that the process for getting your GTIN barcodes has changed. Don’t waste your time looking for answers. Here’s how you get your barcodes on Amazon…

GTIN barcodes

Barcodes are a cost-effective, accurate and easy way to store, ship, track and protect your products. Some of the most popular are the ISBN (a digital 1D code), the Plessey code for shelf marking, and the QR code (a 2D “quick response code”).

To protect their products, retailers and manufacturers around the world use an industry standard known as a GTIN (Global Trade Identification Number). These GTINs are issued by an NGO called GS1, either individually or in bulk through the GS1 US Data Center.
