- 4 pieces thin-cut chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
- 4 slices prosciutto
- 3 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 large yellow onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped sage
- 2 medium Honeycrisp apples
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Season chicken with salt and pepper, dredge in flour mixture of paprika and cayenne.
- Cook prosciutto in skillet over medium-high heat until crispy, about 5 minutes.
- In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and sear chicken for 3-5 minutes per side until golden.
- Caramelize onions in skillet for about 5 minutes, then add butter, garlic, thyme, sage, and salt & pepper.
- Pour in apple cider and simmer for 5 minutes, then add cream, chicken, and apple wedges.
- Transfer skillet to the oven and bake for 5-10 minutes until cheese melts and is bubbly.
- Serve with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
