Best Indian Celebrities of 76th Cannes Film Festival 2023 So Far!
With a vision to make a mark on the French Riviera every year, Indian celebrities are known to bring their best fashion forward for the world’s most coveted film festival.
Back in 2002, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was one of the first Indian celebrities to walk the red carpet at the prestigious festival, and over the next twenty-plus years, she continued to pave the way for all who followed.
In his two decades of appearances at Cannes, the Pink Panther actor and L’oreal ambassador has garnered plenty of attention-grabbing looks. From her iconic princess gown in 2017 to the sculpted couture worn by Gaurav Gupta in 2022;
Over the years, A-list actors like Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Deepika Padukone and Vidya Balan, along with Aishwarya, have represented India either as festival guests or as brand ambassadors.
Last year, actor Deepika was a member of the jury at the 75th Cannes Film Festival and has walked the red carpet several times in haute couture by designers like Sabyasachi and Louis Vuitton.
This year, more and more Indian celebrities are gracing the festival, preferably in ensembles created by Indian couturiers. First time attendee Sara Ali Khan made a statement in a bespoke lehenga by Indian couturier Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.
Apart from the Gen-Z star, actors like Mrunal Thakur and Diana Penty also worked with Indian designer Falguni Shane Peacock for their respective looks at Cannes. This year, celebrities went out of their way to bring maximalist energy to the red carpet. Long trails, giant bows, hooded dresses, and surface decorations that can be spotted from a mile away.
Content creators like Masoon Minawala and Dolly Singh also walked the red carpet alongside Bollywood big names. While Massum made many appearances, her standout look this season was a monochrome gown by Arab designer Marmar Hakim. Going bold for her debut, Dolly donned an icy blue dress by Marwan on Day 1 and was commissioned by Sandeep Khosla of Abu Jani on Day 2.
