Do you feel hopeless, unworthy, guilty, full of self-sabotage or self-pity? These thoughts can be turned around by the word of God. Read these 21 Bible verses about being enough.
We fall short of the mark ourselves. The sign of holiness and justice. Scripture tells us that we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God in Romans 3:23.
If we stop there, we can be left with a sense of inequality and hopelessness. But it does not end there, for there is one who has proved himself pleasing to the Father.
There is one who walked this earth, faced the temptations we face, but He was without sin. Hebrews 4:14-16 refers to Jesus as our High Priest.
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who was tempted in every way as we are, yet did not sin. Then let us draw near with confidence to the throne of God’s grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
When we look within ourselves, we find only sin, inequality, and despair. These thoughts often lead to feelings of worthlessness, self-doubt, self-pity, and many other unpleasant feelings.
When we look at ourselves, this is what we find. But when we look to Christ, we find the spotless Lamb of God. We see the begotten Son of God who took the sin of the world upon Himself and satisfied the penalty of sin and death. We see God’s beloved Son, with whom He is pleased.
As Christians, we no longer need to look within ourselves or to the world for external validation. We have found a new identity in Christ when we look to Him, we see ourselves more clearly.
In Christ we now stand righteous before God because the righteousness of Christ has been placed upon us. In Christ we are a new creature, and the old sin and shame we carried has passed away.
The key is “in Christ,” not in us, not in our own strength, not according to the world, but in Christ. It is where we grow and become who God created us to be and where we find our worth.
If you’re struggling with feelings of inadequacy, the truth is, we’re not. That is why we need Christ because He is enough. Through him we become sufficient, and we also become a pleasing aroma to God.
Through Christ, we each serve a purpose on this earth, and He has given us gifts that we can use to be a blessing to others and bring glory to Him.
The Bible shares many scriptures about our new identity in Christ that help us grow into who we are in Christ and find our value in who He is. Here are just a few to get you started.
